Welcome to Sportember – a jam packed month full of sport!
Sportember is a brand new event for 2010 celebrating the best of sport in Ayrshire throughout the month of September.
Whatever your sporting interest, the Sportember programme is full of variety with everything from marathon running to racketsports, and cycling to golf, there’s even an opportunity to try out firewalking – for the thrill seekers amongst you!
Highlights of this fantastic month include Kiteival - The British Kite Surfing Championships, appearing for the first time ever at Ayr’s Low Green , the only Scottish date on the calendar. Prepare to be wowed!
The William Hill (Ayr) Gold Cup of course is one of the most popular dates on the horseracing calendar and look out also for the ultra marathon runners completing the River Ayr Way Challenge.
There's a great opportunity for all the family to 'Come and Try' a range of racketsports at Prestwick Sport & Leisure and for walkers of all abilities why not walk The Carrick Way, this annual festival provides a great sense of camaraderie as well as some of our most breathtaking scenery.
Sportember is also joining forces with Septembayr, the local mixed media festival with popular and classical music, drama and street events, making sure the month of September is a must for visitors and locals alike.
So, no excuses – whether a spectator or a participant there really is a chance for everyone to be involved in Sportember 2010!
